File Privacy

How DocsConversion handles uploaded files, temporary processing, automatic cleanup and sensitive document risks.

How uploads work

When a conversion requires server-side processing, the uploaded file is sent to the DocsConversion server so the requested output can be created. Browser upload, conversion and download happen over the normal HTTPS website connection when HTTPS is active on the live domain.

Temporary processing

Uploaded source files are intended to be used only for the requested conversion. The backend deletes the source input after conversion. Converted output files are kept temporarily so the user can download the result and are then removed by download cleanup or automatic cleanup.

What not to upload

Do not upload files containing highly sensitive personal, medical, financial, legal, government or confidential business information unless you understand and accept the risks.

Security limitations

Temporary processing reduces unnecessary retention, but it does not make online conversion risk-free. No public website can promise perfect security or perfect conversion results. Users should follow their organization, school or client rules before uploading restricted documents.

User responsibility

Users are responsible for choosing the right tool, keeping backups, checking output accuracy and making sure they are allowed to process the file.

FAQ

Are uploaded files stored permanently?

Should I upload sensitive documents?

Avoid uploading highly sensitive documents unless you understand the risks and your rules allow online processing.

Are files used for advertising targeting?

DocsConversion does not use document contents for advertising targeting.
